One day in 1961, fourteen-year-old Cathy Loving walked into a police station in Chicago. She told an officer she had amnesia and could not remember where she lived. In reality, Cathy was attempting to escape her abusive step-father, Chicago police detective Clifford Starks.
Clifford abused and raped his step-daughter repeatedly, forcing her to engage in sexual acts at parties while a drunk Clifford laughed and humiliated her. Cathy tried to run away from home many times, only to be returned to the hands of her abuser by the Chicago police. The last time she was returned home to her step-father she was held captive, abused and tortured for a week.
